New legendary discoveries about the origin of the Incas.
A film by Daniela Baumgartner
Where did the Incas, the legendary sons of the sun, come
from?
In captivating and enchanting images, this film dispels this mystery. It shows
us how closely the Andean peoples feel themselves linked with the powers of
nature, with the sun and water, the mountains, rivers and lakes. As the Indians see it, the earth is animated, it is Pachamama, Mother Earth.
Lake Titicaca is Mamacocha, Mother Water.
Gods and spiritual beings reveal themselves in the forms of nature, even more:
everything in nature is an expression of spiritual forces. And sometimes humans
help out a little to emphasize certain phenomena in nature.
In this sense, the legends about the origin of the Incas are not mere myths, but
rather have real locations. They are ineluctably linked with natural phenomena
and characteristics of the landscape.
Two Peruvian explorers, the brothers Fernando and Edgar Elorrieta Salazar, have
impressively found the way to read these signs of nature and the related works
of humans and have thus managed to unravel the secret of the Incas.

or: The Magic of Immortality

a film by Daniela Baumgartner
How did our world come to be?
Hinduism gives us an answer to that question – a poetic version of the “big
bang” theory: there is darkness everywhere, a starless night, the god Vishnu is
fast asleep. He reposes in and on the substance of his own being, the cosmic,
dark primeval water. But at some point in time he starts to dream. Then a lotus
of pure gold grows out of his navel, glowing like the sun. The creator god
Brahma is seated upon it. A Brahma day dawns. The cosmos, our world, comes into
existence. It is Maya, Vishnu’s dream. But it is not all just a dream. The point
is far more to awaken from this dream and be released from the sorrowful cycle
of reincarnations:
for the soul is immortal like a drop on a lotus leaf (which does not adhere and
does not bind) it says in the ancient scriptures of India. This one drop points
beyond the number 4, the symbol of the visible world. The 4+1, the number 5,
thus symbolizes the first step toward eternity.
And so we make our way to India and set out on our quest for the magic of
immortality.

The White Rainbow
a film by Daniela Baumgartner
The film wants to reveal Nature as being made by spiritual forces – contrary to the common belief that Nature is merely biological amassment.
Indigenous cultures would even say: within Nature, in plants, trees, and in
stones there live great spirits which have much power over the world around.
The film´s photography as a rather unconventional way of seeing Nature wants to
introduce you to the soul of Nature.
Daniela Baumgartner made the film into a poem from the mystic knowledge of
Hawaii, India and American Indians.
These as all primeval cultures share their knowledge and visions about creation
and Nature.
Duration: aprox. 30 min., stereo,
languages: Englisch, German, format: 4: 3, PAL
Music: Mark Keali’i Ho’omalu and Erol Güner

Paradise?

A film by Daniela Baumgartner
Ever since Captain James Cook discovered Hawai’i
over 200 years ago, the islands have been buffeted by the incursions of western
culture.
Today, the archipelago of Hawai’i serves the United States as an important
military base in the Pacific.Despite all of this, the old traditions have never
been extinguished. Indeed, the awareness of their old traditions burns brighter
than ever in the hearts of the Hawaiians.
How did the ancient Hawaiians once explain how the cosmos came into being? How
do they interpret humans, animals and nature? As the first documentary of its
kind, this film delves deeply into the knowledge of primeval Hawaiian culture. It
tells the legends of the gods and show us the still preserved holy places of
O’ahu, Maui, Big Island and other islands. This way, the spectator will be
spirited away into a world of magic and enchantment, where the profound insights
of this millennia-old culture continue to glow.

About film maker Daniela Baumgartner:
After graduating summa cum laude in art history, philosophy, psychology, and ethnology she worked for newspapers, publishers and television. Then following her heart´s desire she traveled to the indigenous tribes of Peru and Mexico.
This resulted in her novel Kristallzeiten which is an intriguing story from the realm of the shamans (to be purchased at www.buch.de).
During her various travels to Hawaii in the years 2002 until 2004 she made the
film The White Rainbow.
Since 2005 she has been working on her four-film set about the magic of immortality in four cultures of the world. Her first film 4 and One Drop on a Lotus Leaf is about India. 2006 she released her film on Andean cultures Pachamama and the Sons of the Sun. 2008 will see her film about myths of creation and legends of Hawaiian gods: Hawaii Honua Mea Sacred Earth. Finally Europe as fourth cultural society will complete the circle.
What she wants to express in her work may be found in her paraphrasing of Rilke´s words:
… the spirit of Nature breathes onto your ears from all horizons,
as if its alter world was the chant that you cannot resist …
